How to Set Up Your Speed Toad: A Step-by-Step Guide
Welcome to Team Speed Toad!
You’re now part of a global community of thousands of golfers who are unlocking next-level swing speed via speed training with their own driver shaft. Whether you’re chasing more distance off the tee or just love seeing that ball speed climb, we’ve got you covered. In this guide, you’ll learn exactly how to set up your Speed Toad so you can start speed training with confidence.
Step 1: Remove Your Driver Head
The first thing you’ll do is remove the head from your driver shaft.
-
Grab your driver and take off the headcover.
-
Important: Take a quick note of your Cog settings. That includes loft and lie settings. You’ll want to remember these so you can reattach your driver head with the same specs after your session.
-
Use your torque wrench to unscrew the driver head. Insert the wrench into the screw at the bottom of the driver head and twist until it loosens.
-
Once removed, place your driver head somewhere safe.
Step 2: Open Your Speed Toad Kit
Inside your Speed Toad case, you’ll find the Speed Toad device along with four screws. These screws are designed to be compatible with most major driver brands.
-
Identify which screw works with your driver brand.
For example, if you swing a Callaway, look for the screw labeled “CA” on top. -
These letter labels make it easy to match your screw with the right brand.
Pro Tip: Don’t throw away the other screws!
If you ever switch brands, you’ll already have the correct screw to keep training without interruption.
Step 3: Attach the Speed Toad to Your Shaft
-
Take your matching screw and insert it into the top of the Speed Toad.
-
You’ll notice it disappears into the recessed top and pokes out the bottom.
-
Line up the screw with the driver shaft adapter and begin tightening it using your torque wrench.
Tightening Tips:
-
You can fully torque it until you hear that familiar “click.”
-
But as long as the Speed Toad isn’t spinning on your shaft, you’re good to go.
-
If it moves, tighten it a bit more until it’s completely secure.
Step 4: Safety & Training Best Practices
Now that you’re locked in and ready to train, a few quick safety reminders:
-
Never hit the ground with your Speed Toad — just like your driver, it’s not built for turf interaction.
-
If you accidentally make ground contact, stop and check that it’s still secure.
-
Always make sure you’re swinging in a safe direction — never toward people or fragile objects.
You’re Ready to Train ??
That’s it! You’re now set up and ready to start building real speed with the same shaft you swing on the course.
